What a great program. PhotoShop is the number one image editing program in the world. Your knowledge of this package is probably more important to your design success than anything else. The ability to make creative graphics in PhotoShop is an important skill needed by every web designer. There are many excellent books on PhotoShop. Just check any bookstore. I strongly suggest you think of joining the National Association of PhotoShop Professions (www.photoshopuser.com) and consider purchasing Scott Kelby's book entitled PhotoShop 6.0 Down and Dirty Tricks (www.downanddirtytricks.com).
